The Battle of Gettysburg
The battle we fought was on July 1, 2, and 3, 1863, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Lee led his army through the Shenandoah Valley beginning his second invasion of the North. Low ridges to the northwest of town were defended. This battle had the most casualties in the Civil war. It was a bloddy battle with many troops loosing their lives, being wounded, and going missing or captured. The battle started out with 165,620 troops for both the confederate side and the Union, then ended out with a total of 51,112 casualties for both sides combined. Both sides had great strategies but both failed, and had the confederate side ending up giving up and moving to Potomac.
